Are there any long-term plans to offer this great tool also for editing DocBook documents?
We’ve got an internal version that we’ve used to author papers for some conferences. However, that version is not feature complete yet. For this quarter we haven’t allocated anyone from our team to work on this yet.
Could you please describe your use case? What type of documents are your authoring? Or other people involved as well?
I would like to encourage others to voice intrest in a FontoXML DocBook edition here as well. That will allow us to prioritize.
I am DocBook enthusiant for more than a decade. In my opinion it is one of the best solution for software documentation so far. I am sad its use diminishes in favor of systems based on AsciiDoc, Markdown or Confluence. There are many reasons for that, one of them being absence of open source or affordable WYSIWYM editor (an alternative to quite expensive Oxygen XML Author).
As a developer I am investigating promising projects which could fill this gap. My goal is to support them. By testing, by providing feedback, in case of open source by fixing bugs or implementing new features.
I am interested in general purpose document authoring (not limited to a specific use case).
Thank you for your valuable input!
I just came out of a meeting with our product teams and I can confirm that we are not actively working on a DocBook edition right now (meaning next quarter). When the DocBook edition is prioritized, I’ll post an update in this thread, so please stay tuned.
